led strip for that thingy on top that did the steering.8 new for bluelight bars (flashing like US police).I talked to them and guess what, they even offered a 15% disount for you if you buy my instructions here, nice huh? The kits for the 10274 come with the 8 independent sets of lights: So I reccomend the Game of Bricks Kit because: They sit in EU, so you get a European waranty. All other kits I checked either cost similair and have less functions or no sound, or cost double or tripple the price (I found one kit from US, that costs as much as the Ecto-1 itself - and I dont see what for, a few more LEDs as it seems). This kit is sold under different names like Kyglaring and others for different markets, but the kits are identical and cost the same. I have done some research and bought this one from Game of Bricks Note: there are 3 different versions, I used the one with sound and remote. where to buy Light & Sound kit There are different kits on the market. When the lights and engine sounds started I immediately wanted to drive around. So if you want to buy a light and sound kit anyway, you can get a good one AND my instructions for almost the same price as just the kit! And honestly, after I installed my light kit. But, good news, I found a good Light & Sound kit for myself and I like it so much, I talked to them and got you a 15 % disount on the light kit, i used. ★ Lights & Sound Kit (15% Discount with this MOC) Okay, yes, the lights are more important than the motors. I have seen someone attempting to use it: the steering always bangs from left to right - looks like somebody driving first time. You will still need a Large Technic Motor for the steering though. (even new it costs less than a Buwizz) That thing is so ugly that nobody will use it for long and the documentation on powered up is so hard to get by that hardly anyone will try to build anything with it, so chances are good to get almost new ones. A very cheap way to get the Bluetooth Hub and 2 M-Motors (only one needed): Buy the 76112 Batmobile second hand somewhere. Also - after decades of outdated and lame infrared controls - LEGO went for bluetooth (welcome to the 21st century guys ) So no need to buy the somewhat expensive Buwizz or S-Brick. That is a bit tricky to figure out because the documentation is bad. So they will slowly vanish off the marcket. ★ Powered Up & Bluetooth - no discontinued Power Functions Lego stopped selling Power Functions in 2020. I added some descriptions on how to dissamble and re-assammble the Ecto-1 in chunks, so it will be quick and painless for you. ★ Instructions for retrofitting a built up Ecto-1 If you have already built it, you will need a few hours only to retrofit the base frame. So when you build from a new box you can mostly stick to the numbering of the bags and it will need hardly any extra time at all. Yeey! ★ Instructions for new Ecto-1 builds My instructions will lead you to a complete Ecto-1 from the beginning with detailed step by step instructions and I tell you where exactly to continue in the original instructions. Roof top equipment moves and steering wheel too. It took me a few days to figure that one out! So all the gadgets and small decorations inside the ecto stay untouched. Inside, the seat still looks the same (almost, LEGO made it two seats but in reality it's a bench so I 'corrected' that) and the car frame is stable, but now you can swap batteries from underneath. So I completely rebuilt the car frame and the front seat around the Battery. Besides, putting it in the trunk would make it neccesairy to take off the roof with all the equipment every time, too anoying, especially if you go for a light kit. I saw some onther builds, they all put the batteries into the trunk, no way! I like all the little details back there and wouldn't want to block the gadgets or even the view. It is slim and dark bluish gray so it replaces that kardan drive below the front seat perfectly. It can act like a servo, because it has an internal position sensor. That thing is just made to be used for the steering. Why? Because I love this set! ★ best hidden - quasi invisible battery replacement without dissambling This is the only Ecto-1 Motorization using LEGO's Powered Up Large Technic Motor. This build is the least invasive motorization for the Ecto-1 you can get, yet fully functional. Lights kit installed see below, because it is not in the video.
